HeliMods to Deliver Next-Generation Aeromedical Mission System for RFDS (Queensland Section) King Air 260C Fleet

HeliMods has been engaged by the Royal Flying Doctor Service (Queensland Section) to design, manufacture and integrate a bespoke Aeromedical Mission System for the organisation’s new fleet of Beechcraft King Air 260C aircraft.

The engagement forms part of a major fleet modernisation program for the RFDS (Queensland Section), which will take delivery of six new King Air 260C aircraft from Textron Aviation over the next four years.

This latest partnership builds on a long-standing relationship between the two Queensland organisations. HeliMods previously transformed six Beechcraft King Air B360C aircraft into advanced aeromedical platforms for the RFDS, featuring state-of-the-art medical stretchers, integrated oxygen systems and digital connectivity.

The new Aeromedical Mission System will be developed, manufactured and delivered from HeliMods’ Sunshine Coast HQ, designed to unlock the full potential of the next-generation platform — supporting exceptional patient care, crew safety and operational capability in some of the most challenging and remote locations across Queensland.

It is anticipated the first King Air 260C with a full HeliMods fit-out will be delivered in 2028, in time to mark the RFDS (Queensland Section) centenary.
